Over the past few years it’s become increasingly difficult for my mother to do the holiday baking. Her arthritic hand and wrist were not able to keep up with the family baking requirements. Being from the old school of baking there was not many things my mother would do with the help of electric kitchen appliances. Finally after watching her struggle I convinced her of the fact that she should consider an electric hand mixer, and shopping I went, in the hopes of finding a mixer that would help her with the physical demands of baking, and for my own selfish reasons of not wanting to miss out on her delicious home baked recipes.
After doing research, and shopping the internet for various brands my solution to the saving the holiday baking would be the KitchenAid hand mixer professional series.
The KitchenAid hand mixer professional offered a number of features:
· Easy-to-Use 9-Speed Control
· Stainless Steel Pro Whisk
· Electronic Digital Control
· Beater Ejector Button (Oversized)
· Three Slow Stir Speeds
· One High Whip Speed
· Soft Start® for Better Control
· Clean Touch™ Controls
· Double Batches
· Comfort-Designed Handle
· Electronic Mixing Sensor
· Rounded Power Cord
· Protected Air Vents
· Heel Rest
· Stainless Steel Professional Turbo Beater™ Accessories
First off, this is a nice, relatively light, with a handle that is very easy to hold onto, and it’s really easy to use. The surge button and speed control-on/off-eject buttons are all ideally placed where they’re easy to reach and use. The beaters are easy to insert. The Whisk is similarly simple to insert, and you can use either opening. The Soft Start feature is quite nice to have as well. The power cord is about four feet long, which makes it great for kitchens where electrical outlets are at a premium or out of the way.
The KitchenAid hand mixer is easy to clean. Wash the attachments in hot, soapy water, rinse and dry. Wipe the mixer body, cord and case with a clean damp cloth. Don’t use abrasive cleansers or scouring pads, and never immerse the mixer in liquid.
My mother has used her KitchenAid hand mixer many many times since we’ve purchased it, for everything from quick breads to cakes, and we’ve not had a single problem. From whipping cream to creaming butter and sugar, this mixer has made baking a breeze! Highly recommended kitchen appliance, and if you looking for a nice upgrade or compliment to the kitchenaid hand mixer try the kitchenaid classic mixer.
A smaller version of commercial-size models, KitchenAid mixers were first introduced to home bakers in the 1920s and are still manufactured in Greenville, Ohio. The Kitchenaid Artisan mixer is designed with enough power and capacity to prepare large batches of cake batter or cookie dough, and is best for tackling heavy tasks like kneading and mixing tougher dough. While this workhorse performs these duties well, it also does an admirable job at whipping egg whites or heavy cream.
This powerful stand mixer utilizes planetary action—the attachments spin independently while making continual rotations around the bowl—to ensure that ingredients are thoroughly mixed. The Kitchenaid Artisan mixer has ten speeds, from very slow stirring to very high beating. The mixer’s stainless-steel bowl locks to the base, and the head tilts back for easy removal of the bowl and beater. The head is fitted with a power hub for use with optional attachments.
The mixer comes with a 5-quart stainless-steel bowl and three attachments, including a C-shaped dough hook with a disk at the top to prevent sticking, and has 10 variable speeds including a splash guard with chute for adding ingredients while you work making this stand mixer easy to use. The KitchenAid Artisan Mixer comes with a number of color choices. The less expensive KitchenAid Classic Stand Mixer is the exact same size and weight, and comes with the same attachments, but is a little less powerful and only has a 4.5-quart mixing bowl.
Whether you choose the Kitchenaid Classic, or the Kitchenaid Artisan mixer you will not be disappointed with having this tool in your home baking arsenal.
